What is Pharmacy?

Pharmacy is a clinical health science that combines medical science with chemistry and it's charged with research, production, disposal, safe and effective use, and drug and drug control. The study of pharmacy requires excellent knowledge of drugs, their mechanism of action, side effects, interactions, motility and toxicity. At the same time, he needs to have treatment and understanding of the disease process. The specific characteristics of a pharmacist such as a clinical pharmacist require other skills e.g. evaluation of physical and laboratory data.

This is an informal definition of Pharmacy you also defined Pharmacy it is defined as the branch of science that deals with the preparation, doses, dispensing and effects (including safety) of medicines (or medicinal drugs or simply drugs).In the broadest sense, pharmacy (or pharmacology) is very important for health science and chemistry.

Important Core Subjects of Pharmacy:-

Pharmacology (the study of effects of drugs on the human body and biological systems – a mixture of biology, physiology, and chemistry; will cover both basic, advanced and clinical pharmacology)

Pharmaceutics (deals with formulation, drug delivery, drug stability, dosage forms, patient acceptance etc.)

Pharmacognosy (the study of medicinal drugs derived from plants; deals with botany, plant science, and phytochemistry)

Pharmaceutical analysis (It is a broad term that can be defined in many ways. It is a series of processes used for the identification, determination, separation, purification and formulation of compounds used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products.)

Pharmaceutical jurisprudence (It is the study of pharmacy, pharmacy practice rules and regulations and relates to drugs and pharmaceuticals. Pharmacists, pharmacies, medicines and pharmaceuticals are regulated in each country)

Pharmaceutical Chemistry (including Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Medicinal Chemistry)

Human Anatomy & Physiology (Human Biology including Pathophysiology)

Biochemistry (the study of biological reactions within living organisms)

Microbiology (the study of micro-organisms like bacteria, virus, protozoa etc.)

Pharmaceutical Engineering & Technology (deals with basic concepts of Chemical Engineering – e.g. Fluid Dynamics, Process Chemistry and Industrial Processes)

01.Master in Pharmacy (M.Pharm) 

This is the next step after the B pharmacy. Master of Pharmacy Also known as  M. Pharm.B. Pharm Graduates chooses to do this course, as it allows them to choose a specific area in pharmacy. This course allows students to move in a particular direction and become experts.

02.Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) 

Doctor of Pharmacy has become a very popular course in India. Now Pharmacy Council of India decided to give the power to Pham.D completed candidates to add Doctor (Dr.) prefix to before their name. Job opportunities like Regulatory affairs, Clinical pharmacists, etc. After complete Pharm.D course. You can go for the North American Pharmacist License Exam (Naplex) after completing the same Pharma.D course. To make a big career in North America. Pharma.D is the best course after B.Pharma.

Application Process:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 55% marks in B.Pharm. 

Duration of the course: 3 years.(After B.Pharmacy Only)

03.Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Pharmaceutical Management

The MBA in Pharmaceutical Management is a course in pharmacy and business and marketing science and technology. This degree and subsequent career involves a lot of research and management.

Application Process:

For admission in MBA, you have to qualify below-mentioned test:-
Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test(GPAT)
Common Admission Test(CAT)
Management Aptitude Test (MAT) 
CMAT (Common Management Aptitude Test)

Duration of the course: 2 years.


4.Diploma in Pharmacovigilance 

This is one of the well-known and useful course after B.Pharm. This course will help you to get a job in pharmacovigilance service companies and clinical research organizations.

Duration of the course: 6-12 months.

5.Diploma in Clinical Research

A diploma in Clinical Research is an excellent career option after B.Pharm or M.Pharm. Job options like

05.PGDM IN PHARMACY


This is an excellent course to do after B. Pharm. A PGDM in pharmacy or PGDM in pharmaceutical management is a 2-year course that's more industry-oriented and imparts practical knowledge. The course is designed to make students industry-ready the moment they finish their course. This degree will get you a management job in the pharmacy industry. You can use the knowledge gained to become an entrepreneur after gaining the right amount of experience.

6. Certificate in Diploma in Medical Coding and Medical Billing 

Due to its huge application, medical coding has become a very popular course.

Medical coding is the transformation of all types of healthcare data into universal medical alphanumeric codes. It has a big demand for Indian Market.

Medical billing is the process of invoicing and collecting payments for healthcare service providers. Through insurance claiming, government programs.

After complete B.Pharm medical coding, medical billing is a good course.

1) Drug Inspector

One of the most rewarding job opportunities available in the Pharmacy Industry is the position of a Drug Inspector.As the name suggests, in the job profile the candidate must ensure that the quality, safety and usefulness of the drug product will be the priority of the drug inspector. However, the job will tell you to be patient in drug testing and be confident in your results and in yourself.

A job as a drug inspector is usually found in the government sector which also brings its own benefits. However, if you want to become a drug inspector, you must sit for national or state level recruitment exams like SSC, UPSC, PSC or others. All recruitments for the course will be based on the recruitment test.

One of the shortcomings of the job profile is the vacancies in that area. The government recruitment test for drug inspectors is conducted at a lower rate than other governments' Job Recruitment Exam. However, if you are confident about your skills and qualifications and you believe in cracking the exam, you will be offered an attractive package range anywhere between ₹50,000 - ₹80,000, a month.

02.R&D SCIENTIST

His jobs include research and treatment of diseases, reevaluating old medicines and developing good formulations, researching and developing vaccines, in-depth knowledge of chemistry and biology, conducting animal and human trials, and medical findings. Report writing is included on. Key expectations of R&D scientists.

03.Pharmacist

Becoming a pharmacist in the government sector can be beneficial considering the job demand and available vacancies. In cities like Delhi, areas like central government hospitals and railways, as well as pharmacist job profiles, can offer packages ranging from 25,000 to 30,000 per month. However, the CTC offered to a B.Pharm graduate in one of the state-level hospitals or equivalent job roles will be lower

Briefly, candidates are selected for job roles by primary eligibility criteria to pursue B.Pharm degree or Pharmacy (D.Pharm) degree. Since these posts are available in the government sector, recruitment for this post in particular will be based on the government recruitment test.



04.Pharmacovigilance Associate 

A career in pharmacovigilance offers great potential for the production of new drugs every day. Pharmacovigilance is the process of collecting, researching, monitoring, evaluating and evaluating information received directly or indirectly from patients to identify the side effects of drug-derived drugs from the market and to ensure the safety of the drug.Pharmacovigilance aims to identify new pharmacological hazards and make drugs more effectively available to the public.

05.Clinical Research Associate (CRA)

The Clinical Research Associate, also called Monitor, operates by either the Pharmaceutical Company or the Contract Research Organization (CRO), which acts on behalf of the pharmaceutical companies. Clinical trials can be performed at different stages, testing patients with the disease and conducting studies after the introduction of a new drug to monitor safety and side effects. The CRA will be involved in all phases of the clinical trial, including identifying an inspection site and starting, monitoring, and closing the test upon completion or termination.

06. Medical Representative

Medical Representatives (MRs) are professionals hired by pharmaceutical companies, who, along with doctors, tell them that their company has brought new drugs to market. He is like the marketing officer of the company's products. This is an important task because MRs are responsible for the sale of manufactured drugs. They should have a deep understanding of all the drugs manufactured by their company.
